5-star QB is slipping through Georgia's fingertips and into the hands of an SEC rival

Alabama appears to be in a much better spot with Elijah Haven than Georgia.

Georgia football's top target in the 2027 recruiting class is none other than the No. 1 quarterback in the country. Elijah Haven is one of the most sought after recruits in the country, and Georgia has really begun to ramp up their pursuit of him over the last few months.

Haven plans to visit Georgia for their upcoming matchup against Texas next weekend, and heading into that visit Haven's father Kwame spoke about where things currently stand with UGA. Unfortunately during this interview he brought up an SEC rival who appears to be in a much better spot with Haven than Georgia is.

"So, that trip to Athens will be, I wouldn't say an initial visit, but we only camped there the one time. That was our only exposure around the team," Kwame Haven said via 247sports.com. "Now, the staff, they communicate more with Elijah directly than with me and his mom. They're not to the point where I can reach out to several people in Alabama staff and have group chats with my wife and I and some of the staff members in it. We're not there yet with Georgia, but it's a winning program. He wants to win. So, I think this will be an initial interest trip for us, to be honest."

Alabama is getting in Georgia's way for 5-star Elijah Haven

As Haven's father detailed in the above quote, this will be his first true visit to Georgia in his recruitment. He did camp at Georgia earlier in his recruitment, but this visit will be the best look Haven's had at UGA and the entire coaching staff.

The fact that this is his first true visit shows that Georgia has some work to do if they are going to win this recruitment, but that wasn't the most unsettling thing about this quote. The worst past of this quote from Haven's father is that he brought up Alabama during his interview about Georgia.

Haven's father detailed how his relationship with Alabama is much better than it is with Georgia right now, and this very well could be something that pushes Haven to the Crimson Tide over UGA.

The good news for Georgia is that there is still over a year left in Haven's recruitment. This means Georgia has plenty of time to win this battle, but as it stands today Kirby Smart and his staff have a lot of work to defeat Alabama and potentially a few other programs in this recruitment.
