The saga that is Jared Curtis's recruitment is about to come to an end. The No. 1 QB in the 2026 recruiting class was once a Georgia football commit, but at the end of 2024 he backed off that commitment to pursue other programs.

While doing so, Curtis quickly realized that his top two programs are Georgia and Oregon, so he cut off all ties to focus on these two schools.

Since doing so, Curtis has visited both programs, and he now appears ready to make his final decision on where he wants to play college football.

Commitment date locked in for Jared Curtis

According to On3's Hayes Fawcett, Curtis has announced that he will commit to either Georgia or Oregon on May 5. This announcement is not surprising because Curtis hinted at big news overnight on social media, so this update is that news he was hinting at.

No official prediction have been made in Curtis's recruitment yet, and no one really knows who the favorite is. On3 does name Georgia as the favorite right now, but they give the Bulldogs only a slight edge over the Ducks.

So who will Curtis commit to? That answer might not be known until he officially commits in May, which is still about a month and a half away. So regardless of whether Georgia is the leader right now or not, Kirby Smart and his staff still have plenty of time to stay in touch with Curtis and convince him that Athens is the best place for him.

It goes without saying that Curtis's commitment would be huge for Georgia. Not only would they have their quarterback of the future, but they also would likely see a huge momentum shift on the recruiting trail leading to many other commits following Curtis to Georgia. And all that would begin on May 5, when Curtis announces his final decision.
