Georgia football has lost a five-star quarterback not once, but twice in recent years. Just a few weeks ago Jared Curtis flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt right before signing day, and this unfortunately wasn’t the first time that has happened.
Two years ago Dylan Raiola made the same decision to ditch Georgia and flip to Nebraska right before signing day as well. This news, similarly to Curtis, upset Georgia and their entire fanbase for obvious reasons. However, Georgia has found a lot of success in the two years since Raiola flipped to Nebraska, so maybe there isn’t a reason for UGA to be upset with Curtis’s departure.

Dylan Raiola is the perfect example of why Georgia doesn’t need Jared Curtis
Georgia has been one of the best programs in the country since Raiola flipped from them to Nebraska. The Bulldogs have won two SEC Championships the last two years and have made the College Football Playoff both seasons as well. Georgia also is in prime position to win a National Championship this year as well, so it’s clear that they never needed Raiola.
Raiola also hasn’t turned into the player anyone was expecting. During his two seasons at Nebraska he threw for 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns and a whopping 17 interceptions. Georgia on the other hand had Carson Beck last season and Gunner Stockton this year who were both much better than Raiola.
Raiola now plans to enter the Transfer Portal which likely could’ve happened if he came to Georgia as well.
So while losing Curtis’s commitment still isn’t good, Georgia proved over the last two years that they don’t need him. They found a lot of success without Raiola and had better quarterback play than he ever gave Nebraska, so maybe the same thing will happen over the next few years with Curtis at Vanderbilt.
Regardless, Georgia will have their chance at revenge against Curtis when he makes the trip to Athens during week five next year. And it’s safe to say that a win over him and the Commodores would help everyone feel better about losing him to Vanderbilt.
