Five-star running back Kemon Spell announced his commitment to Georgia on Monday afternoon. The No. 1 running back in the 2027 recruiting class was in Athens this past weekend on a visit, and he decided to shock the college football world by committing to UGA.
Not only did most experts believe Notre Dame or Penn State were leading his recruitment, but no one knew he was even looking to commit anytime soon either. But Spell gave Georgia the best news they could've ever expected by committing to Georgia.

No one needs to be told how big of a commitment this is. Spell is a five-star recruit, the No. 7 player in the country and the top ranked running back in his class, so those facts speak for themselves. But Spell just so happens to be the 11th highest rated commit in Georgia history as well as the highest rated running back of all time.

Spell will join a few other elite Georgia Bulldogs when he arrives in Athens. EDGE Elijah Griffin just finished his freshman season at Georgia and he is the 4th highest rated commit of all time. Corner Ellis Robinson is the 2nd highest rated commit of all time who is entering his third season this fall. Robinson will likely go pro after this year, but if he does return for his senior season in 2027 he will overlap with Spell for a year.
Spell is now the highest ranked commit in Georgia's 2027 recruiting class which currently ranks No. 6 in the country. Georgia however has less commits than every other team in front of them, so it's just a matter of time until they climb even higher.
But regardless of what happens, Spell's commitment is a huge deal for Georgia as he will help them have one of the best running back rooms in the country.
