Georgia hosted many big name recruits in Athens over the weekend. A few five-stars highlighted the list of attendees, but there was on five-star in particular that everyone was paying attention to the most.

Running back Kemon Spell was back in Athens this weekend. His recruitment had really ramped up over the last few months after he decommitted from Penn State, and Georgia was always one of the teams at the top.

Many believed that Georgia had a lot of work to do to win his recruitment, but it turns out that they were able to pull out the victory this weekend as Spell announced his commitment to Georgia on Monday.

As mentioned, Spell had been committed to Penn State for a little over a year. He however decided to decommit from the Nittany Lions after their head coach was fired. After decommitting from Penn State multiple predictions were then logged in Notre Dame's favor to win his recruitment.

That however didn't stop Georgia as they put their heads down and continued recruiting him. Unfortunately another road bump came as Penn State was predicted to win his recruitment again just a few weeks ago. But Georgia was able to get Spell in town this weekend and close out his recruitment.

Spell is as good as they come in the 2027 recruiting class. He is the No. 7 overall player according to 247Sports and the top ranked running back in the country as well. Spell immeidately becomes Georgia's No. 1 recruit in their 2027 class which is now ranked No. 6 in the country. It is worth pointing out that every other school ranked above Georgia has more commits than them, so it may just be a matter of time until they climb even higher.

Georgia's recruiting efforts in the 2027 class are far from over, but this victory is as big as it gets. This is the type of win that can propel Georgia to the No. 1 class ranking and multiple championships down the road when Spell officially joins the program next year.
