Georgia defensive back Ellis Robinson came to UGA last year with about as much hype as any recruit in recent history. Robinson was the No. 2 overall player in the country and the top ranked corner in the 2024 recruiting class, so expectations were rightfully sky high for him.
Unfortunately Robinson did not meet those expectations as he struggled to see the field during the 2024 season and only recorded three tackles.
Robinson however had a huge opportunity in front of him this offseason as one of the two starting cornerback spots was up for grabs. And according to reports, it is Robinson who is trending to win the starting job as he earned the start at corner during Georgia's second scrimmage earlier this month.

Former 5-star DB Ellis Robinson is trending to be Georgia's next starting corner
As mentioned, the second starting corner spot has been up for grabs this offseason. While Kirby Smart never confirmed this to be the case, the consensus was that Robinson and Daniel Harris were the two Bulldogs competing for this spot.
While it is not 100 percent official that Robinson won this job, the fact that he earned the start over Harris in Georgia's last scrimmage is very telling.
The No. 1 corner on Georgia's defense is Daylen Everette and that is not up for debate. He is the reigning SEC Championship game MVP and is being projected to go in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. So his starting spot is as secure as it can possibly be.
So imagine a world where Robinson develops into the elite corner that he was projected to be out of high school. He was the No. 2 player in the country for a reason, so he has the ability to be a lockdown corner just like Everette. And every team Georgia faces this season will be in for a rude awakening if Robinson becomes the player everyone at UGA knows he can be.
