Georgia football is just a few days away from taking on Alabama in the biggest game of the season. There are stars all over the field whenever these two sides take the field together, and that will be the case again this season.

But there are six players who will have a big say on who the winner will be in this game on Saturday.

WR Colbie Young

Throguh three games, Colbie Young has been a very reliable target in Georgia’s passing attack. The senior wideout has hauled in 13 receptions for 179 yards, averaging 13.8 yards per catch. While he hasn’t found the end zone yet, Young’s ability to move the chains and stretch the field makes him a steady option for Gunner Stockton. Against Alabama’s secondary, Young’s size and consistency could give Georgia an edge in critical third-down situations.

QB Gunner Stockton

So far in the 2025 season, Stockton has shown excellent ball security and efficiency. He’s thrown for 721 yards with no interceptions and has been dangerous both through the air and on the ground. He’s also proven his ability to accurately throw the ball downfield in Georgia’s win over Tennessee, so Alabama will have to respect his downfield ability.

If Alabama can’t pressure him well, Stockton should have a field day picking apart this secondary.

LB Raylen Wilson

Raylen Wilson has emerged as one of the leaders of Georgia’s defense in his junior season. With 23 tackles and one sack so far, he’s been active both in run support and when brought on blitz packages. His speed allows him to close gaps quickly, making him difficult for opposing backs to outrun. Facing Alabama running back Jam Miller, who will be making his 2025 debut, Wilson’s role in containing the Crimson Tide ground game will be crucial

Alabama QB Ty Simpson

Ty Simpson has been sharp to begin the season. With nearly 900 passing yards and zero interceptions so far, he’s been very clean and mistake free while being efficient with his throws. Kirby Smart even gave him the nod as the “hottest quarterback right now” so far into the season. Georgia should look to force mistakes by bringing blitzes and collapsing the pocket on Simpson early.

Alabama WR Ryan Williams

Fresh off a breakout freshman season and a huge game against Wisconsin with five catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns, Ryan Williams as proven he can stretch defenses and be lethal. Georgia fans know all too well from his performance last fall and this defense can’t afford for this kid to get hot again.

Georgia’s corners have struggled in single coverage this season, especially after the Tennessee game, so the Bulldogs safeties will likely need to be disciplined and be ready to help to take away Williams deep threat ability.

Alabama LB Deontae Lawson

Deontae Lawson is a strong run defender and tackler. Lawson dominated the Bulldogs in last season’s game, recording a team high 10 tackles with two for a loss and a sack. Georgia will need to find where Lawson on each snap during this game and make sure they can avoid running to his side as best they can. Misdirections and RPOs would be a really good to start to limit his production as well as read options.
