Georgia’s main goal for the 2026 season is to win an SEC Championship for the third year in a row. That won’t be easy because of how many talented teams there are in the conference, but UGA will be one of the favorites again next season to win the SEC.
While there are many teams capable of taking down Georgia next year, there is one super team that is forming that Kirby Smart will need to be extra cautious of. That team is the Texas Longhorns, and former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray warned Smart and UGA of what could be coming for them next season.
Can I buy Arch for Heisman?! https://t.co/VoYDGq45rd

Texas could be Georgia’s biggest threat in the SEC in 2026
Ever since the Longhorns joined the conference Georgia has been told how they will take over the league. That however has not happened as Georgia is now 3-0 against the Longhorns since they joined the SEC. But next year could be very different.
Texas will always be a really good team, and at the end of this season they were already viewed as one of the favorites heading into 2026. But the Transfer Portal season has taken their expectations to another level.
So far this offseason they have added multiple elite transfers. This includes coveted wide receiver Cam Coleman from Alabama and one of the top running backs in the country Hollywood Smothers from NC State. These additions have made Murray so confident in Texas next year that he thinks quarterback Arch Manning could win the Heisman.
The good news for Georgia is that they don’t play Texas during the regular season, but they obviously could play in the SEC Championship game which would be problematic for Georgia. But Texas shouldn’t be a team UGA is ever too worried about until they prove they can actually beat them.
