Times have not been good for Georgia basketball over the last couple weeks. The Bulldogs just made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade, but they were blown out in the first round by Gonzaga.

Fast forward two weeks and Georgia has now lost three major contributors to the transfer portal as well. This news has caused many fans to believe that this one good year from Georgia was an outlier and that there’s no hope for future success.

But Mike White has other plans as he has put his recruiting hat on and earned a big pickup from the transfer portal himself.

Cal transfer Jeremiah Wilkinson

According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Georgia has picked up a commitment from Cal transfer guard Jeremiah Wilkinson.

Wilkinson is coming off an extremely impressive season at Cal where he finished the season averaging 15.1 points, 1.5 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. He also shot a solid 32 percent from 3-point range while also hitting 78 percent of his shots from the free throw line as well.

These are all amazing stats on their own, but Wilkinson did this as a freshman in his first year of college basketball. So that shows that he has the potential to become a star with Georgia in the future.

But the best part of all is that Wilkinson was named the ACC’s Sixth Man of the Year, which is just another sign of how great of a player he is.

Georgia still has a lot of work to do if they want a chance at making the NCAA Tournament again next season, but this acquisition is a massive step in the right direction. And after all the success White has found already at Georgia, the fanbase should be willing to trust that he will figure it out and have a great team by the time next season begins.
