Georgia’s loss to Alabama earlier this season was heartbreaking for a lot of reasons. The Bulldogs have responded since that loss and have won every game since, but there is still one lingering side effect from that loss that Georgia won’t ever be able to make up for.

Entering that matchup Georgia had a 33 game home win streak which was the longest in the country. Unfortunately that streak was snapped and Alabama took possession of the new longest home win streak. But all it took was a few weeks for the Crimson Tide to crack under pressure and lose their home win streak as well.

Alabama got what they deserved after ruining Georgia's home win streak

Alabama was cruising this year after their season opening loss to Florida State. They had won every game since then, including their win over Georgia, and rose all the way to No. 4 in the country. But last week the Oklahoma Sooners went to Alabama and beat the Crimson Tide 23-21. This victory snapped the Crimson Tide's 17 game home win streak which was the longest in the country.

While it is fun to watch Alabama lose their home win streak after ending Georgia's, this loss did much more for UGA. This loss gave Georgia a much better chance to make the SEC Championship game as they now have three scenarios that will see them make it to Atlanta instead of one. Alabama's loss also allowed Georgia to move into the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings which is where they need to be to earn a first round bye.

Georgia has a few more years to go before their home win streak could become the longest in the country again, but for now they can enjoy seeing Alabama lose as it gave them a much better outlook for the rest of the season.
