Saturday was so close to being the perfect day for Georgia. They did handle their business against Texas in dominant fashion as they took the Longhorns down 35-10, but even though Georgia has finished their SEC season at 7-1 they still need some help to make the SEC Championship game.

Texas A&M is the last undefeated team remaining in the SEC, but they were close to being upset by South Carolina this weekend. Georgia's spot in the SEC Championship game would have been clinched had the Gamecocks won, but unfortunately that did not happen.

Even though Georgia can't do anything else to improve their position in the SEC standings, there are three scenarios that can occur that would lead to Georgia getting back to Atlanta this season to play fo an SEC title.

1. Alabama loss to Auburn

The first scenario that would see Georgia make it to Atlanta is quite simple. An Alabama loss to Auburn in their season finale would mean that Georgia would only be tied with Ole Miss at one loss in the SEC standings. Georgia thankfully has the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Rebels because of their win earlier this season, so that would give them the nod to make it to Atlanta.

Alabama will be a big favorite against Auburn in two weeks, so this is not an outcome that Georgia fans should count on.

2. Texas A&M loss to Texas

The second scenario is far more likely to occur as Georgia only needs Texas A&M to lose to Texas in the final week of the regular season.

If Texas A&M were to lose to Texas in their season finale then Georgia would advance to the SEC Championship game based on an obscure tiebreaker. Since Georgia has played a much more difficult conference schedule than both Texas A&M and Ole Miss, Georgia would be one of the two teams to advance to Atlanta.

3. Ole Miss win vs Mississippi State and better SOR than Alabama

The final scenario is a little less likely to happen because Georgia needs two outcomes to occur. The first thing that needs to happen is an Ole Miss win over Mississippi State in their season finale. This most likely will occur, but Georgia also needs to have a better strength of record compared to Alabama to advance in this scenario.

If Ole Miss and Texas A&M win then Georgia would be tied with the Rebels and Alabama for the second spot in the SEC Championship game. This means the same obscure tiebreaker would come into play to surrounding their strength of records. To determine who has the better strength of record, the conference would look at the combined records of the eight SEC opponents Georgia, Ole Miss and Alabama played this season. Whichever team's eight opponents had the best conference record would be the team to advance to Atlanta.

The reason Ole Miss needs to win in this scenario is because Alabama would have the head-to-head tiebreaker over Georgia if they are the only teams tied at one loss. So an Ole Miss win is needed to force this obscure strength of record tiebreaker to come into play.

Georgia is guaranteed to have a better strength of record than Ole Miss, but that is not the case with Alabama right now. So Georgia fans should cheer for all eight of their SEC opponents (other than Alabama) to win the rest of their games to help improve their strength of record.

Georgia has a great chance to advance to the SEC Championship game because of these three scenarios. But there is a real possibility neither of these occur and Georgia ends the season at 11-1 and doesn't get a chance to play for an SEC Championship.

So while Georgia fans will be cheering hard for UGA in their final two games of the regular season, there are a few other outcomes they should be cheering just as hard for as well.
