It's easy for Georgia fans to dislike whoever the Alabama quarterback is simply because of how often they've beat UGA over the years, but Keelon Russell is quickly gaining fans even from rival fan bases.
Georgia should never actually want to see him succeed enough to beat UGA in any way, but after UGA's win Saturday night Russell waited on the field for Gunner Stockton to finish an interview so he could shake his hand and congratulate him in person. He didn't have to do that, but it shows his character and how great of a person he is on and off the football field.

Alabama fans could learn a thing or two from Keelon Russell
Russell showed that he knows how to lose with class, and that is a nice thing to see in sports. Unfortunately Alabama fans can't say the same thing.
From the moment the game ended Alabama fans have been making countless excuses for why they lost this game. Instead of congratulating Georgia like Russell did they instead are blaming injuries and poor officiating to explain why they lost this game.
These excuses are lame though because Georgia had to deal with just as many injuries and poor calls that Alabama did. Georgia also had to handle playing on the road while Alabama had their fans behind them all game long. Georgia was able to overcome all of these obstacles while Alabama couldn't and that's why they deserved to win this game.
Instead of coming up with excuses Alabama fans instead should look inward to try and figure out what they can improve on so they can win next time. That appears to be what Russell is going to do, and hopefully Crimson Tide fans will learn from his example.
Georgia vs Alabama rematch could be on the horizon
Georgia and Alabama played each other twice last season, once in the regular season and in the SEC Championship game. With the way things are shaping up in the SEC it feels like they are the two most likely teams to meet in Atlanta again this season.
Georgia is the only undefeated team left in the SEC, and the rest of their schedule shakes out nicely for them to make it to Atlanta. Alabama on the other hand doesn't have a lot of breathing room if they want to make it to Atlanta, but Texas doesn't look as strong after losing to Oklahoma and teams like the Sooners, LSU and Texas A&M who figured to be in contention for an SEC title aren't even in the picture anymore.
If this matchup were to happen again in Atlanta then Georgia fans will be cheering hard for Russell to struggle. That doesn't mean he shouldn't have the respect from every Georgia fan because not only is he a great player on the field but he seems like an even better person off the football field.
Georgia could have a lot more battles against Russell over the course of his career, and while they may have won the first bout he will be ready to beat UGA the next chance he gets.
