Disaster struck Georgia earlier this week when star transfer Amaris Williams went down with a season-ending injury. Williams was a new arrival to Georgia this spring as he began his career at Auburn, and expectations were very high that he’d be able to come in and improve what was a weak pass rush in 2025.
Unfortunately that will not happen as he tore his ACL on Tuesday and has already been ruled out for the season.
This news was already bad enough, but his injury was reportedly a non-contact injury which somehow makes it even worse.
Was told that Amaris Williams suffered a non-contact injury in practice on Tuesday.. Tough break for him, but he has time left and will be back on the field for UGA when he is fully recovered..

Amaris Williams’ injury happened in the worst way possible
Injuries happen in football. Serious injuries happen from time to time as well. No one ever wants to see them occur, but everyone accepts that at some point they will. That doesn’t make it okay when they do happen, but unfortunately this is just a reality of the sport we all love.
But it’s impossible to wrap your head around something this serious happening without any contact.
When a serious injury occurs after a big hit it at least makes sense. Anyone can see a massive or awkward-looking tackle and understand how someone could get injured. But Williams was probably just jogging around or going through a non-contact drill when he got hurt. And unfortunately that moment ended his season before it even began.
Georgia’s practices this spring were rumored to be extremely physical. That intensity received some of the blame when this injury came to light, but it turns out that Kirby Smart’s intense practices can’t be blamed at all.
Who knows where Georgia will go from here. There isn’t a second Transfer Portal window this spring like in the past so UGA won’t be able to go shopping for another player to replace Williams. So whoever is on their roster now is who they’ll have to roll with when the season begins.
Thankfully there is still a lot of time until the season begins, so Georgia has plenty of time to figure out what they’re going to do.
