The 2026 NFL Draft is in the books which means it’s time to look ahead to the 2027 draft. The goal for every big name player heading into this season is to do enough to become one of the top picks in next year’s draft, and that is certainly a goal for Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton.

Unfortunately he is not getting any hype quite yet while other players like Texas quarterback Arch Manning is.

Manning is already being predicted to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft next year which is extremely debatable, but the fact he is viewed as one of the top quarterbacks isn't a problem. The problem that exists however is that Stockton isn't getting the same recognition even though he is just as good if not better than him.

Arch Manning doesn't deserve more NFL Draft hype than Gunner Stockton

Last season was the first year both Manning and Stockton were starters. So how did they do? They were actually pretty comparable.

Manning finished with about 270 more passing yards to go with two more passing touchdowns. He did however have two more interceptions during the season which makes their passing statistics pretty similar.

Stockton however was a slightly better runner as he ran for 60 more yards with the same number of touchdowns.

Based on these stats it is quite clear they are very equal players. Stockton however got the win over Manning when they Georgia and Texas played last season. He also led Georgia to another SEC Championship while Manning was sitting at home.

That isn't enough to proclaim Stockton the better quarterback between the two, but what has Manning done to prove he is much better?

No one should argue that Manning doesn't deserve a lot of hype heading into the draft next year, but it's impossible to not give Stockton the same hype based on their performances on the field. Unfortunately Stockton doesn't have the name that Manning does and that may just be the only explanation as to why he isn't being viewed as the same caliber of player.
