Georgia football has had a lot of injuries they’ve had to deal with this season, but their injury report has shrunk as they’ve inched closer to the SEC Championship game. But there is still one position that is really struggling, and that is the running back room.

Two key running backs are getting closer to a return, with some thinking they might play against Texas in the SEC Championship game. But will either of them actually suit up is the question.

RB Trevor Etienne

Trevor Etienne has been out since the Ole Miss game after suffering a rib injury the week before against Florida. It has been a slow recovery for him, but this is the first week that his status on Georgia’s injury report is listed as questionable.

While that shows that he is very close to returning, an update from Kirby Smart earlier this week made it sound like he was unlikely to return against Texas. Etienne is practicing with the team, but it’s been in a limited capacity, so it’s likely he’ll be out today but will be ready to go for Georgia’s first College Football Playoff game.

RB Branson Robinson

Branson Robinson is also listed as questionable heading into this game, but he appears to be closer to a return than Etienne is.

Robinson was listed as questionable before the Georgia Tech game last week, so he almost made his return a week ago. So now that he has an extra week of recovery and practice time under his belt, this could be the perfect opportunity for him to make his return.

We will find out shortly before the game if either player will suit up or not, but regardless the UGA running back room should be fine. Nate Frazier and Roderick Robinson are ready to lead the way with Cash Jones getting a lot of snaps as well.

In a perfect world, both Etienne and Robinson will play, but if they don’t it won’t be the end of the world for Georgia.
