Last week Georgia running back Bo Walker and offensive lineman Dontrell Glover were both arrested and charged after being accused of shoplifting. This report took over the news cycle in the college football world because of Georgia’s seemingly constant run-ins with the law, but with few details released at the time it wasn’t clear exactly what occurred.

Those details however were released on Monday, and the public outcry against both players has been proven to not be warranted.

Bo Walker and Dontrell
Glover arrest details emerge

Reports indicate that Walker and Glover were spotted by a Walmart employee leaving their store without paper plates, paper towels and Febreeze items without paying for them. These items totaled about $100 and both players claimed they mistakingly forgot to scan them with their other items. Walmart however didn’t care about their explanation as they called the police and pressed charges.

Both Walker and Glover have been released on a $1,500 bond, but this story should’ve never gotten to this point.

Yes Walker and Glover should have been more careful to make sure they were scanning all of their items, but it sounds like this was an unintended mistake. And with these items not costing that much it’s strange that Walmart decided to press charges instead of just having them pay for the goods.

Social media also reacted very poorly when this news was first released last week. College football fans were dragging their names through the mud and blaming Georgia for a lack of control in their program, but these details show that these reactions were not justified.

Georgia released the following statement on Monday surrounding these charges.

“We were informed of the charges and are currently in the process of gathering additional information.” Georgia deputy athletic director Steven Drummond said in a statement via dawgnation.com. “This is a pending legal matter and we will not have further comment at this time.”

It’s hard to imagine a scenario where Walker and Glover miss Georgia’s upcoming playoff game on Jan. 1. At this time though there aren’t anymore updates about these charges, so both players and Georgia fans will have to wait and see if any further action is taken.
