Two weeks ago Auburn upset No. 1 Georgia in Athens. That loss seemed to say a lot about Georgia at the time and that their ceiling may not be as high as everyone originally thought. Fast forward two weeks and that may not be the case anymore.

One week after beating Georgia the Tigers were blown out by LSU at home. Then on Saturday they just got embarrassed at the hands of Ole Miss by losing 45-15.

Someone could point to these two losses as more proof that Georgia isn't that great this year, but maybe it shows that Auburn just got a little lucky against Georgia.

Auburn cashed in all their good fortune on beating Georgia

The only explanation for how bad Auburn is playing right now is that they cashed in all their good luck on beating Georgia.

To be fair to Auburn they did have an excellent game plan against Georgia. They utilized their quarterback in the run game as much as possible and that led him to rack up 115 rush yards while burning a ton of clock. They however were lucky that Georgia's offense played so poorly.

A lot of that blame is on Gunner Stockton who threw two unforced interceptions while adding a third turnover when he fumbled with the game on the line. All Georgia needed was one more first down and they would've been the ones kicking the game winning field goal, but Stockton fumbled that opportunity away.

That game however is in the past and there's nothing Georgia can do about it now. They may however live to regret that loss.

Georgia could end up regretting letting Auburn beat them

Based on how the rest of this season goes Georgia could end up regretting losing to Auburn more than they already do. The biggest reason why is because it led to them losing some breathing room as they try to get back to the SEC Championship game and College Football Playoff.

Imagine how good of a spot Georgia would be in if they beat Auburn. They'd still be able to lose two more games and make it to the playoff and would be able to lose once and be guaranteed to make the SEC Championship game too. That however is no longer the case.

If Georgia loses to Florida on Saturday then they'll be put in a position where they have to win the rest of their games to make the SEC title game and playoff. That however wouldn't be the case if they beat Auburn, but there's nothing they can do now other than push forward and try to win every game left on their schedule.
