Trevor Etienne and the rest of Georgia's team clearly had Gunner Stockton's back on Saturday night.

Georgia football found themselves in a very sticky situation on Saturday as QB Carson Beck went down with an injury and was out for the entire second half. UGA had to call on backup Gunner Stockton to step up in his place, which was a very scary thing to see at first because Stockton was yet to play any meaningful snaps up to this point in his career.

But we all know what ended up happening. Stockton played very well in the second half and helped lead Georgia to their 22-19 overtime victory over Texas to win the SEC Championship.

Stockton does deserve a lot of credit for this win, but his teammates around him arguably deserve even more. They all reallied around Stockton and stepped up, knowing they all had to play much better than they did in the first half if they wanted to win this game. So while everyone stepped up on the field, many players also showed Stockton they had his back both verbally and with their actions off the field.

And one of the best examples of this was captured on TV right before the first snap of the second half.

Trevor Etienne's small gesture went a long way

This moment caputred by the TV cameras was missed by everyone in the moment, but it is one of the cooler shots to look back on now. As the offense was lining up for the first play of the second half, running back Trevor Etienne slapped Stockton on his back just as a way to say, "Hey, we got this."

And maybe this momnt individually didn't do a whole lot for Stockton's confidence, but you have to imagine there were countless other players coming up to Stockton in the locker room and on the sidelines sharing a very similar message as this. And all of that ended up working in Georgia's favor as Stockton played with a ton of confidence the entire second half. No he wasn't perfect, but even when he made a mistake he didn't let it impact his confidence at all.

So in as big of a game as this was on Saturday against one of the best defenses in the country, Stockton stepped up and led Georgia to victory, thanks in large part from the help of his teammates both on and off the field.
