Big Ten titans causing Georgia to lose hope with 4-star LB

There is a lot of work for Georgia to do if they want to win this recruitment.

Georgia football linebacker target Nick Abrams is ready to announce his commitment. The No. 14 linebacker in the 2026 recruiting class will announce his commitment on July 16 and will decide between Oregon, Michigan, Alabama and UGA.

It’s clear to see how difficult it will be to earn this commitment based on the programs Georgia is up against. And unfortunately for Georgia it appears this recruitment is slipping through their hands based on the report from Dawg Post insider Matt DeBary.

"The Maryland native has been high on Georgia throughout his recruitment and will be making his decision on July 16th between Georgia, Michigan, Alabama and Oregon," Matt DeBary shared via dawgpost.com. "He’s always had great things to say about the Dawgs, and they are very much still in the mix, but sources say this could ultimately come down to Michigan or Oregon. However, you can never rule out Glenn Schumann when talking about standout linebackers."

Michigan, Oregon proving too much for Georgia

According to DeBary, it is Michigan and Oregon who are the favorites in Abrams' recruitment right now. And considering Abrams is planning to commit in two weeks, it could be too late for Georgia to make their move and win this battle.

This would be a big loss for Georgia because linebacker is a position that UGA is a little light on in their 2026 class. In fact, Georgia only holds a commitment from one linebacker right now.

This is likely to change over the next month or so as Tyler Atkinson, who is the No. 1 linebacker in the country, continues to trend to Georgia. But even if Atkinson does end up committing to Georgia, Kirby Smart will likely want more than two linebackers in this recruiting class.

There is still time for Georgia to come out on top in this recruitment, but more likely than not Abrams will be heading to the Big Ten and Georgia will have to look elsewhere for a new target.
