Kirby Smart has a lot of great recruiting pitches at his disposal that can help convince a recruit to come to Georgia. The winning culture and solid NIL are two things that stand out to anyone, but the amount of players Georgia sends to the NFL may be his best recruiting pitch of all.
That pitch recently worked wonders for four-star offensive lineman Carter Jones who was just in town. During his visit he happened to stumble upon Brock Bowers who was working out in the weight room, and simply seeing him gave Jones a positive impression on Georgia.
“I think one of the most ‘wow’ moments was seeing Brock Bowers in there working out and having a few other NFL guys in there alongside him,” Jones said via dawgnation.com.
Brock Bowers’ presence helped sell Georgia on coveted 4-star OL Carter Jones
Jones is an elite offensive lineman that Georgia is very motivated to land. This past visit was his fourth trip to Athens and not only did seeing Bowers stand out to him, but so too did all the time he got to spend with the coaching staff.
“That was my fourth visit to Georgia and the one thing that really impressed me was just getting to sit down and talk with [offensive line] coach [Phil] Rauscher,” Jones continued. “We talked about where he’s at and the type of development I’d have at Georgia and where he sees me fitting in with the O-line. So both of our values really aligned well together.”
Clemson unfortunately is the clear leader right now, but this visit allowed Georgia to catch up to them and get a fifth visit in the works as well.
“Georgia has definitely gotten a lot of traction since the visit in March,” said Jones. “I’m really looking forward to getting on to my fifth visit there.”
Clemson is one of the few programs with a similar amount of success as Georgia over the past decade. Relying solely on that won’t turn the tides in Georgia’s favor this time, but having Bowers hanging around appears to have helped UGA out in this recruitment. So if Smart was wise he would make sure that Bowers continues to be in Athens whenever Jones comes back for another visit.
