Georgia football fans love talking about Brock Bowers. He was one of the most dominant players Georgia fans have ever seen come through Athens, and so far he is living up to that hype in the NFL.
Bowers has only played one season in the NFL, but he has already earned respect from all of his peers. In fact, a ranking that complies opinions from current NFL executives, scouts and coaches just named Bowers the No. 1 tight end in the NFL entering the 2025 season.
One executive in particular gave the following compliment to Bowers.
"Great person, hard worker, instinctive, great hands, matchup problem due to his speed and athleticism with elite [run after catch] ability," an NFC executive said.
Brock Bowers named NFL’s No. 1 tight end
According to this ESPN post, Bowers is the first player to be named the No. 1 player at their position immediately after their rookie season. So not only has Bowers burst onto the NFL scene, he has already become the NFL’s top tight end in the league.
Bowers first season with the Las Vegas Raiders ended with 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns. These stats were good enough to set multiple records, which includes the most receptions in a single season in Raiders history.
On top of that, 1,194 receiving yards is the most by a rookie tight end in NFL history, and his 112 receptions is the most receptions by a rookie at any position in NFL history.
The only thing missing for Bowers last season was team success as the Raiders weren’t even close to making the playoffs. But he clearly has the ability to be the focal point of an offense, and after some big offseason moves the Raiders have a chance to contend for a playoff spot behind their new star tight end.
