It's not often you get a top-ranked or five-star quarterback to commit to your program. The Georgia football program just received their own five-star QB commitment in 2026 five-star Jared Curtis.

Curtis is the No. 1 quarterback in the country and is as good as advertised. He was named the 2024 MaxPreps Tennessee Player of the Year and a MaxPreps Junior All-American as he threw for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns while also rushing for 637 yards.

Curtis is still about a year away from arriving in Athens, assuming he enrolls early this spring, but the expectations are already sky high for the future freshman quarterback as he is the second-highest ranked quarterback commit in the Kirby Smart era commit falling behind Justin Fields from 2018. Expectstions are so high for Curtis that it’s impossible to not dream big and think about how Curtis could accomplish something that not many before him have been able to do.

Can Jared Curtis do what Trevor Lawrence did?

Speaking of 2018, there’s another freshman that comes to mind when you think of a five-star quarterback entering a loaded roster, Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence entered Clemson and ignited that team, leading them to a national championship as a true freshman.

The 2018-19 Clemson team offers a similar comparison to the future 2026 Bulldogs. Georgia will continue to be loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and the new starters who will play that season will have a year of SEC experience under their belt.

It is lofty to place Lawrence comparisons on Curtis, but it's easy to see how the high school quarterback could mirror Lawrence. A lot of five-star quarterbacks have amazing talent, but few will get coached by Kirby Smart and play with an elite roster full of NFL talent.

Curtis obviously first needs to win the starting job next offseason which is easier said than done, but it isn’t impossible for him to accomplish. Regardless, he doesn’t have to win a national championship in his freshman season, but if he follows in the footsteps of former UGA greats that will amazing for the program.
