Carson Beck's decision to leave Georgia and transfer to Miami was the biggest story in all of college football last offseason. The biggest reason why is because of how unexpected it was because he had already declared for the NFL Draft.

Beck however thought it was in his best interest to return to college for one more year and take his talents to Miami.

On Friday at the NFL Combine Beck opened up about what led him to make this decision, and he partially blamed Gunner Stockton for pushing him out. But instead of disrespecting Stockton it turns out he actually had his best interests in mind.

“It was Gunner’s turn to be the quarterback at the University of Georgia. When I decided to come back to college, I had to go elsewhere.”

Carson Beck was always looking out for Gunner Stockton

After declaring for the NFL Draft, Beck realized that he wanted to return to college football. There was only one problem, Stockton already took over as the next starting quarterback in Athens.

Beck could've returned to Georgia and competed for the starting job this past season. He likely would've been able to win that job very easily too. But he didn't want to do that to Stockton. He didn't want to take that opportunity away from him, so he let Stockton have his moment at Georgia and took his talents elsewhere.

This decision ended up working out for both of them since they both had great seasons this past year. Beck even got the last laugh as he and Miami went deeper in the College Football Playoff. But it turns out that Beck is a really good guy as he shared on Friday that there is no "bad blood" betwen him and Georgia at this point either.

So the negative stories and discussions about Beck can finally be put to bed. At the end of the day he just did what he felt was best for his career, and that is the only thing anyone should do in his situation. But finding out that he was always looking out for Stockton should make every Georgia fan a lifelong fan of his.
