Georgia football is entering a very important stretch in their season. After dropping their first game of the season to Alabama, the Bulldogs can't afford to lose another game anytime soon, so UGA has to turn the page and get ready for the rest of the season ahead.
One team however that is yet to hit a road bump this season is Miami (FL). The Hurricanes are 4-0 this season and the No. 3 team in the country thanks in large part to the impressive play from former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck.
Beck's departure from Georgia this offseason created a lot of waves. His decision left a lot of UGA fans very upset, but the dust has since settled and there aren't too many people out there with negative feelings towards Beck.
Beck has spoken a few times about his decision to leave Georgia, but his most recent indicates that it was never his plan to leave Athens.
"I mean the ending was tough because it obviously wasn't a part of my plan," Beck shared via si.com. "Like I never wanted it to end that way. I didn't want to go down in the SEC Championship game, get injured and then ultimately making the decision to go elsewhere right? It was never part of the plan and ultimately sometimes it's God's plan, not your plan. Just going with that and trusting in him that ultimately this is where I was supposed to be."
Carson Beck never planned on leaving Georgia
Not only did Beck never plan to leave Georgia, but he also spoke about how thankful and appreciative he is of his time at Georgia.
"I mean obviously the way that everything ended was very abrupt," Beck continued. "It wasn't like I was able to give my thanks, give my appreciation. Obviously I am super thankful and appreciative for my five years there. I mean that's almost a 20 percent of my life. I mean man, I gave everything I had to university, you know we had had fought wins, hard fought losses, I mean the work we put in there it's second to none. I'm just thankful and appreciative to have the support system that I had there. I mean, lifelong friends that I will have for the rest of my life."
It's clear from these quotes that Beck absolutely loved his time in Athens. He made countless memories and formed infinite relationships that he will cherish for the rest of his life. But all good things must come to an end, and his career at Georgia came to an end one year sooner than even he expected.
But even though Beck now plays for a new team, he still has a lot of fans at Georgia. The hope at the end of the day is that UGA will have the better season this year, but it would be nice to see Beck and Miami continue their great start to this season. And who knows, maybe Georgia and Miami will meet in the College Football Playoff later this season.
Miami's next test will be their most difficult the rest of the season as they hit the road for the first time to play No. 18 Florida State.
