Georgia football starting quarterback Carson Beck sent shockwaves through the college football world on Thursday when he announced that he was entering the transfer portal. Beck previoiusly declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, but he no longer will be turning pro and decided that he would play one more season of college football.

And while most would have likely assumed that another year in college would have been spent at Georgia, that was clearly not the case since he entered the portal.

After Beck entered the portal, reports began circulating that Miami (FL) was the likely landing spot for him. And those reports came true as Pete Thamel with ESPN confirmed that Beck has officially committed to Miami for the 2025 football season.

What does this news mean for Georgia?

After Beck was injured during the SEC Championship game against Texas this season, Kirby Smart and Georgia turned to Gunner Stockton as the Bulldogs new leader under center. And while Stockton wasn't extremely impressive during his game and a half of football, he showed that he has enough potential to become a legit starter for Georgia for the 2025 season.

UGA also has freshman Ryan Puglisi in their quarterback room as well, and all signs point towards him being a serious threat to win the starting job for next season as well.

So while Beck transferring to Miami is extremely surprising, it does not change much for Georgia heading into next season. Beck struggled a lot throughout this season, so most fans were ready to move on from Beck and try something new in 2025 anyways.

It will be interesting to see how Beck and the Hurricanes do next season, but the hope for Georgia fans is that they do just fine without Beck and maybe even get the chance to face Miami during next year's College Football Playoff.
