In case you missed the news, Georgia football’s starting quarterback from the previous two seasons, Carson Beck, announced Thursday afternoon that he is entering the transfer portal.
Beck previously had declared for the NFL Draft, but he has since changed his mind and is returning to college. But instead of running it back with Georgia for one more season, it appears he has already made up his mind on where he will be transferring to.
Miami (FL) is the leader for Carson Beck
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Miami (FL) is the expected landing spot for Beck. It is important to note that Thamel’s source said that Beck will hear from other suitors as well, but Miami is the team expected to land Beck as of now.
While Beck could end up listening to offers from other schools, it seems unlikely that he will end up anywhere other than Miami. For starters, usually reports like this tend to come true when they immediately come out and specifically list one team as the likely landing spot. Also, Beck’s girlfriend is a current player on Miami’s basketball team as well, so he may want to move closer to her as well.
Miami also is a team that will continue to compete for ACC Championships and College Football Playoff appearances as well, which likely is an important thing for Beck. The Hurricanes are also major NIL players as well, so a deal with Beck likely has already been on the table for a while now and potentially even agreed upon before this news came out.
Regardless of where Beck decides to transfer, his reputation at Georgia is likely ruined. It’s unlikely that he even cares about that, but UGA fans are not happy and for good reason. If he does transfer to Miami, then the only way Georgia could play Beck is if they meet in the CFP, so hopefully that’s what ends up happening because the entire Georgia program and fans would probably love to play Beck after this.
