Georgia football is in trouble after losing to Ole Miss Saturday night 28-10. The Bulldogs now have a slim chance to make the SEC championship game and the College Football Playoffs are no longer a guarantee either.
But that all seems like an afterthought because it's clear that Georgia just needs to work on themselves first and all that went wrong against the Rebels before they think about winning championships again.
Everyone has excuses for what went wrong in this game. Excuses in the sports world are viewed as a negative thing because most feel that coaches, players and fans should just own it when they lose a game. But when those excuses are centered more around what the team can do better, then that is when it is productive to discuss them.
But there is one excuse floating around after this game that has been uttered far too often this season.
Carson Beck, Georgia won't be "defined" by this game
During Carson Beck's postgame press conference, he shared how Georgia will not be "defined" by this one game. And there is nothing necessarily wrong with saying that because it is a good mindset to have.
However, it gets a little old when it is said after every game.
This same sentiment was shared after Georgia's win against Florida when Beck struggled and threw three interceptions. It was shared when Beck also threw three interceptions against Texas. These same feelings were even discussed over a month ago when Georgia barely squeaked by Kentucky with a win.
So while it's good to not let one game define you, at some point something needs to change. Georgia continues to make the same mistakes over and over again, especially on offense, so while it sounds nice to say this game won't define them, the mistakes they continue to make are in fact starting to define this team.
