Georgia football escaped with a 24-21 victory over Florida on Saturday. This win helped Georgia out in so many ways, but the greatest thing this did for UGA was helping improve their College Football Playoff resume.

While a win over Florida isn't a marquee victory like it is some years, this win helps prevent Georgia's CFP resume from tanking like it would have had they lost. But even though Georgia is in a strong position when it comes to making the CFP, they still can use as much outside help as they can get to improve their positioning.

And none other than Carson Beck gave them that help on Saturday.

Carson Beck's heartbreaking loss helped Georgia's College Football Playoff hopes

Miami was coming off a tough loss to Louisville their last time out and were sitting in a position where they couldn't afford another loss. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened as they lost to SMU in overtime.

And the bad news for the Hurricanes is that Beck lost them this game with this interception he threw in overtime.

While Georgia and Miami aren't direct competitors with each other, they are competing for the same 12 playoff spots. So seeing Beck essentially eliminate Miami from playoff contention after this interception is a great thing for Georgia's playoff hopes. It also won't upset Georgia fans seeing Beck lose this game in that fashion after he ditched the Bulldogs this offseason.

As long as Georgia wins out they will make the playoff. They likely will still make it even if they lose another game this season as well. But this loss from Miami should ensure that Georgia will stay about the Hurricanes in the CFP rankings even if Georgia does lose another game this year.

The hope is that it doesn't come down to that, but Beck helped Georgia out big time in the event that UGA does drop another game this season.
