Former Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck is back on the field in Miami after suffering a season ending injury in the SEC Championship game last season with the Bulldogs. While it is nice to see that Beck is healthy again, the last thing Georgia fans probably care about when it comes to Beck is the potential success he could find with Miami this season.

At the same time however, it will be impossible to not monitor him throughout the 2025 season. So how well could Beck do with the Hurricanes this next season?

There is a lot of uncertainty whenever a QB is coming off an injury to his throwing arm, so it is difficult to come up with realistic expectations for him until he takes the field for the first time this fall. But that injury is not stopping Beck and Miami from creating lofty goals for thier new QB this season.

Carson Beck and Miami may need to rethink their goals

Every Georgia fan knows that Beck is a very solid QB. He actually had a great year in 2023 which made him the No. 1 quarterback in the country according to many experts entering the 2024 season. Beck however did not come close to living up to those expectations, and his injury at the end of the year brought his disappointing season to an early end.

But his struggles in 2024, as well as his injury, are not hurting his confidence entering the 2025 season. In fact, Beck himself has stated his goal is to "attempt" to do what Cam Ward did at Miami last season and become the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.

Beck isn't the only one with these expectations as Miami head coach Mario Cristobal expects Beck to be the "best version" of himself this season. Even some NFL scouts believe Beck has the "same tools" as Ward that could propel him to a great season.

While it is possible that Beck storms back this season and becomes one of the best quarterbacks in the country again, it does seem unlikely to happen. One thing in Beck's favor is that the ACC is not as strong as the SEC, especially on defense, so that will help inflate his stats compared to last year.

But anyone who thinks Beck will be the best QB in the country will likely be disappointed as the season goes on as he likely has a better chance to fall outside the top 10 quarterbacks in the country than be the consensus No. 1 QB entering the 2026 NFL Draft.
