In case you missed the news, former Georgia football QB Carson Beck officially announced on Friday that he has transferred to Miami (FL) for one final season in college. This came one day after he initially entered the transfer portal after deciding that he no longer wanted to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.

The fact that Beck decided to return to college for one more season is pretty surprising, but it's even more shocking that he made the decision to not play one more season at Georgia. Likely no one will ever know for sure if Georgia even wanted him back for another season, but the reported amount of NIL money Beck is getting from Miami makes it seem likely that Kirby Smart and Georgia did not want Beck to return to Athens.

Carson Beck will make millions at Miami

According to the Miami Fox affiliate, Beck will reportedly earn $4 million for his one season of college football that he will play at Miami during the 2025 season.

Is Beck actually worth this much money? Apparently he is because the Hurricanes were willing to pay this much money for him, but it is very likely that Beck was not worth this much money to Georgia. Maybe there was a dollar amount that UGA would have given Beck to return to Georgia for one more season, but all things considered it likely would have been a lot lower than this amount for Miami.

The main reason that is likely the case is because Georgia is just fine with their current quarterback room. The Bulldogs have Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi who are both more than capable of winning the starting job for next season. So if Smart and Georgia are happy with those two battling it out all offseason, then there is no need to pay a large sum of money for Beck.

Georgia now will be able to use this money they are not paying Beck to improve the rest of the roster, which will only make life easier for whoever the starter is next fall.

Following Beck next fall will be very interesting, but Georgia fans likely will not be upset to see him go, especially after this NIL amount became public.
