CBS analyst gives concerning prediction on why Georgia might lose to Ole Miss

Georgia is far from a perfect team, which is why counting out Ole Miss upsetting them is not wise.

Yes, Georgia did not look the part in the first half vs. Auburn last week. The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry was firmly in the Tigers' control for 28 minutes. Then, Georgia finally played within itself and dominated the final 32 minutes to win, 20-10. Clearly, the guys at CBS did not watch a second of the second half. You have to hear what Randy Cross had to say about Georgia heading into this weekend.

No doubt about it, Georgia's offensive line has been banged up all year long. Its depth has been compromised with one key contributor on the sidelines after another. That being said, it seemed to hold up just fine vs. the vaunted Auburn pass rush in the second half. Stockton was only sacked twice, as he largely out-dueled his quarterbacking counterpart in Jackson Arnold when it mattered.

Cross' thoughts on Georgia could come back to haunt him after the Ole Miss game on Saturday.

Randy Cross was not impressed by Georgia's offensive line vs. Auburn

Cross went after the Georgia offensive line by saying this is not anything close to an impressive unit.

"I'm looking at this game from last week when Auburn and Georgia met. I was very, very surprised the way that offensive line for Georgia played. You got a lot of pressure on the quarterback. Didn't run the ball extremely well and 79 total yards rushing. Gunner Stockton was getting harassed. They were getting after him. He was having a hard time. I think Ole Miss has a good enough defense to repeat that, and I think Ole Miss is gonna go into Athens, and they're gonna beat 'em."

Every point in Cross' argument can be totally unwound, based on what all we saw in the second half.

The other big thing he seems to be overlooking is this was a primetime game on the road at a rival...

Where Randy Cross is probably going to get it wrong about Georgia here

Even though we should have a lot of respect for Ole Miss coming in, the Rebels are far from a perfect team, too. They may be undefeated, but have not played the schedule Georgia has. Furthermore, they almost lost at home last week to Washington State. Ole Miss does have a strong pass rush and pass defense, but the Rebels can be had in the ground game. Georgia can earn a victory by winning there.

Trinidad Chambliss may be a special player for Ole Miss, but so is Stockton for Georgia. So far this year, Ole Miss has played only one game on the road. That would be at Kentucky. Even though the Wildcats are far from a good team, Ole Miss still found a way to lose to them at home a year ago on homecoming. Odds are, Chambliss has never played on the road in a hostile environment like Athens.

In the end, Ole Miss could conceivably hand Georgia its second loss of the season, and nobody would bat an eyelash at it. That being said, to use the Auburn game as an example of why Georgia's offensive line is no good is almost comical at this point. Georgia played with its food in the first half on the road before figuring out it was the better team in the second. It might do the same thing yet again.

Keep in mind that Georgia suffered a bad loss to the Rebels in Oxford in the rain only a season ago.
