Kirby Smart thinks Ole Miss hit the jackpot with QB Trinidad Chambliss

At the halfway point of the season, Ole Miss has struck gold in the form of Trinidad Chambliss.

Win or lose on Saturday, Ole Miss has one helluva transfer portal find at quarterback. Trinidad Chambliss has been a revelation for the Rebels this season. The former Ferris State standout came to Oxford this past offseason. While all signs pointed to Austin Simmons replacing Jaxson Dart under center at Ole Miss, an early-season injury to Simmons has paved the way for Chambliss to take over.

Ole Miss enters play at 6-0 and is the No. 5 team in the country heading into Saturday's road date at the Georgia Bulldogs. While the Dawgs are a sizable 7.5-point home favorite over Ole Miss, Chambliss is the type of quarterback that can put an entire defense on its head and spin it like a top. He has been so incredibly impactful for the Rebels. So much so that other SEC coaches have taken notice...

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart could not say enough good things about Chambliss at Ole Miss.

"He's quick, he's fast, he's tough, he's got great lower body, great instincts ... [Ole Miss] should get the greatest award there is for finding this guy. I don't know who scouted him, who found him, but he is a really good football player that they went out and got and did a tremendous job."

Once again, Lane Kiffin has proven to be the greatest user of the transfer portal in college football.

As long as Chambliss keeps on playing like this, he will have Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff.

Kirby Smart's praise of Trinidad Chambliss means Georgia will be ready

After two bounce-back wins over Kentucky and Auburn following the Alabama defeat, next up will be arguably Georgia's toughest known game the rest of the way. Ole Miss feels like one the of four or five teams that will make the 12-team College Football Playoff out of the SEC, along with Georgia. They have not played the toughest schedule yet, but do have an impressive victory over LSU in Magnolia.

The key to beating Ole Miss has everything to do with ball control. The Rebels are a strong opponent, but you can play keep-away with them if you can run the ball effectively. Georgia has a strong enough ground game to take advantage of this great opportunity at hand. Do they want to achieve bowl eligibility before the second bye or not? This is all about handling business on Saturday vs. Ole Miss.

Overall, Chambliss is the type of player that even the best game plan can be completely thwarted by. Saturday is not the time for Glenn Schumann to wake up from his lengthy pre-game nap during halftime. Georgia needs to find within itself to play a full game of great defense. Otherwise, this thing could get out of hand before Smart has enough time to do Schumann's job for him over on defense.

Keep in mind that Ole Miss was nearly upset at home last week vs. a feisty Washington State team.
