CBS Sports laughs at Vegas oddsmakers Georgia win projection

Vegas oddsmakers have some explaining to do.

Vegas oddsmakers are not confident in Georgia heading into this season. Their over-under win projection is still the highest in the SEC, but Vegas has only set their win total for this year at 9.5.

Kirby Smart has failed to win 10 games just one time in his career, and that was in his first season as head coach. So who know where Vegas is coming up with this projection, but they believe there is a chance Georgia doesn't win 10 games this season which would be a complete disaster.

CBS Sports however is much higher on Georgia's chances this season. In fact, they basically laughed at this win total and predicted that Georgia would go 11-1 this season.

“The last time Kirby Smart won less than 10 games in a full season was back in 2016, his first year in Athens,” John Talty said via cbssports.com. “With a pretty manageable conference slate in 2026, you should be bullish about the Bulldogs' chances of besting expectations. Even with this high number, I love the Bulldogs to surpass it.”

CBS Sports isn'y buying Vegas oddsmakers' Georgia win total

Georgia will face an extremely difficult schedule again this season. That however is nothing new because life in the SEC is challenging every season, but is their schedule as difficult as Vegas is projecting?

Not really.

Georgia does have a few tough rough games they could lose which includes another trip to Alabama and Ole Miss (where they predict UGA will suffer their lone loss of the season). On top of that, they also get Vanderbilt and Oklahoma at home and have to face a tough Georgia Tech squad at a neutral site again.

All of those games are challenging, but they are all very winnable as well. In fact, there is a chance Georgia will be predicted to win each game.

A 12-0 record doesn't seem very likely this season, but it feels more doable than going 9-3. So who knows where Vegas came up with this prediction, but CBS Sports is a big believer in Georgia this year even if Vegas isn't.
