Georgia held steady at No. 5 in the week 10 AP Poll after their second bye of the season. No UGA fan should be upset with this ranking because three of the teams above them are undefeated and the fourth is Alabama. But looking below Georgia in the rankings it’s hard to find a team that deserves to be ahead of them.

Well, it’s hard for most people, because CBS Sports Danny Kanell just found a way to rank Georgia at No. 9 in his weekly rankings.

CBS Sports gives Georgia exactly what they need

The four teams above Georgia in the AP Poll are above UGA in these rankings as well, and as mentioned they all deserve to be. But what about the four other teams above Georgia in Kanell’s rankings?

BYU and Georgia Tech are both undefeated as well, but they haven’t beaten anyone good this year. Georgia on the other hand has beat Tennessee, Ole Miss and Auburn, and those two teams do not have wins that stack up to that.

Then there is Oregon who is a one loss team whose best win is against a Penn State team who fired their head coach. Great choice there by Kanell. Finally there is Miami who has a lot of great wins like the Bulldogs, but there loss to Louisville is much worse than Georgia’s loss to Alabama.

This disrespect however is exactly what Georgia needed. After rattling off three straight wins since losing to Alabama, all Georgia has heard is how great of a team they are. And while that is true, it could start getting to their head. So the more people that choose to doubt Georgia the better.

The Bulldogs have a long way to go still before they win anything of significance, but it’s clear that they are one of the best teams in the country. And if more analysts give Georgia this much motivation, there’s a chance UGA is going to get even better.
