The Georgia Bulldogs are coming into the 2026 college football season as a top five team in the country in terms of returning production. Specifically, the defense comes in as top five in the nation in returning production.
With so many starters coming back to Athens, the next NFL Draft in 2027 should be loaded with defensive talent from Georgia. However, several Bulldogs were recently snubbed in a top ten ranking of defensive prospects of said draft by Mike Renner of CBS Sports.
KJ Bolden, Ellis Robinson nowhere to be found in Top 10 ranking
It is shocking that out of all the amazing prospects likely to come out of Athens in 2027, not one of them made a top 10 ranking. Specifically, it is shocking that KJ Bolden and Ellis Robinson IV out of the secondary were nowhere to be found. Both former five-star recruits, these guys have developed as freshmen in Athens and are now expected to be sole captains of the defense.
Both players had great seasons last year, and look to have even better ones this season. Robinson was tied for the lead in SEC interceptions in 2025. For Bolden, he was fifth in total tackles on defense in his true freshman season. Both guys are All-Americans heading into 2026 as well.
Somehow, four of the 10 players in this list were defensive backs or safeties. Yet not one of those players were Bolden or Robinson. Bolden and Robinson both are projected to be first-round picks in almost every mock draft, so how are ten guys better than that? Not only better, but higher ranked than All-Americans.
There are plenty of other Georgia players to point out that were snubbed too, including guys like Raylen Wilson and Gabe Harris Jr., but these two being snubbed were by far the most shocking. The way the upcoming college football season plays out will determine how well this ranking holds up, but I have a feeling these guys will prove CBS wrong by the end of the year.
