It's been a few days since the first round of the NFL Draft, but Stetson Bennett is still involved in the biggest story of the draft. It all has to do with the fallout after the Rams boneheaded decision to waste their first round draft pick on former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson even though they already have Bennett and reigning MVP Matthew Stafford.

Seemingly everyone in sports media has had an opinion on this, even Rams head coach Sean McVay wasn’t able to keep his opinion silent. Some of these opinions are in favor of Bennett while others are siding with Simpson, but there are a select few opinions that are so far out there that it is impossible to ignore.

Enter Colin Cowherd who isn't afraid of saying the hottest of hot takes, and what he said about Bennett is hard to wrap your head around.

"(Jimmy) Garoppolo may retire," Cowherd said via ugawire.usatoday.com. "Stetson Bennett's not it. My take is the way Ty Simpson succeeds in this league is by drafting him and not playing for two years and getting the right coach."

Colin Cowherd unloads flaming anti-Stetson Bennett take

Cowherd believes that Simpson is the clear backup option for LA right now. Having that opinion isn’t insane even though Georgia fans won’t agree with it, but acting like Bennett has zero chance to be a good NFL starter is a bit ridiculous.

Simpson could become a better quarterback than Bennett. It however would be shocking if he won the backup competition this offseason because Bennett has a lot more experience than Simpson.

Cowherd however doesn’t care about that at all. He thinks Bennett is “not it” and doesn’t think he’ll be successful no matter where his career takes him.

This is nothing new to Bennett as he has been doubted his entire life, and when he finally gets a chance he’ll undoubtedly prove people like Cowherd wrong.
