College GameDay has always been one of the biggest spectacles in all of college football. I can still remember waking up early every Satruday morning as a kid to tune in and watch the three hour coverage before the long day of college football began. That obsession has not ended as I've become an adult.
Georgia football has already been featured on College GameDay once this season, and to likely nobody's surprise the pregame show will be heading to Austin, TX next week when Georgia and the Longhorns do battle.
Without even looking at the rest of next week's schedule it was clear this was going to be the choice for ESPN. Texas is the No. 1 team in the country according to the AP Poll and will surely stay there as long as they defeat Oklahoma this week. UGA on the other hand is the current No. 5 team in the country but will surely move up as well with a win. This is due to No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Oregon facing off this week.
As I mentioned, College GameDay has been at one Georgia game already this season when they lost to Alabama in heart breaking fashion 41-34. So the Dawgs will look to improve their GameDay record this season to 1-1 next week.
This will be Georgia's 38th appearance on College GameDay which is the sixth most in the country.
Sportsbooks have already released their betting lines for this showdown and UGA finds thesmseleves as a 2.5 point underdog. Home teams usally get about three points from sportsbooks, so this matchup is about as even as it gets in Vegas' eyes.
I know Georgia can't overlook Mississippi State this weekend, but with this matchup looming it is impossible not to. So let's hope UGA handles their business so the hype for next week can officially begin.
