Georgia football still has a game to get through on Saturday against Mississippi State, but I'll be honest, it's hard to not look past this game. Thankfully for us fans we're allowed to look ahead on the schedule to the showdown that is quickly approaching.

Next week Kirby Smart's squad travels to Texas to face the potential No. 1 team in the country. The Longhorns play Oklahoma this weekend in the Red River Rivalry, so there is no guarantee they win that game. However, the most likely scenario is Texas winning that game which gives Georgia the opportunity to take down the top team in the country in their own stadium.

FanDuel sportbook just released their opening line for this game, and Texas opens as a small 2.5 point favorite over Georgia.

Texas being this small of a favorite at home tells us the sportsbooks view this as pick em game. Home teams usually get about three points just for playing in their own stadium, so if this game was being played on a neutral field there likely would be no betting favorite in this game.

Now I'm not here to tell you how to bet your money, I typically don't ever bet Georgia's games because I know how biased I am. But in all honesty, this is a line I would probably avoid betting anyways. Texas hasn't played that strong of a schedule this season, so there is still some unknown about their team in my eyes. Yes they had a dominant week two victory at Michigan, but the Wolverines haven't looked good at all this year so that win by Texas isn't as strong as it once looked.

Other than that game Texas is yet to play any serious competition. The only SEC opponent they've faced is Mississippi State who is one of the worst teams in the conference this season. Sure they have won all of their games in convincing fashion, but I want to see what they look like against a quality opponent first.

Georgia on the other hand has had their own issues as well. Their one loss to Alabama looks a lot worse now after the Tide lost to Vanderbilt last week. Georgia also has a questionable win against Kentucky this season as well. So in my eyes this huge matchup next week could go either way.

The Bulldogs have to get by Mississippi State first, but if they do we likely will be looking at a top four matchup next week. These are the games we at Georgia live for and I can't wait for the Dawgs to show the country what they're made of.
