Don’t overthink this up ESPN.

In case you missed the news, ESPN’s Lee Corso has announced his retirement from College GameDay.

Corso has been the face of ESPN’s flagship program for 38 years, but he is ready to call it quits after his historic run with one of the best college football shows of all time.

While Corso has announced his retirement, he still has one more show he will be on as his final show will be during week one of the upcoming college football season. So the thing everyone wants to know is where that show will take place.

Looking at the upcoming schedule for week one, there are countless high profile games ESPN could select. Here are a few of the top choices GameDay could go with.

1. Alabama @ Florida State

2. LSU @ Clemson

3. Tennessee @ Syracuse

4. Utah @ UCLA

5. Cal @ Oregon State

While all of these are great options, none of them will be the choice for ESPN as the selection is actually quite easy.

GameDay should head to Columbus

The one other big game taking place during week one that wasn’t listed above features the Texas Longhorns who will travel north to Columbus, OH to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. These teams should both be ranked inside the top five, and when that is the case GameDay almost always picks that game to be the location of their show.

But there is another more heartfelt reason that makes this an easy selection for ESPN and GameDay.

Everyone knows Corso’s tradition of capping off each show by putting on the headgear of the team he is picking to win. He has been doing this for decades and the clips of him doing this go viral every week. Most people however might not know that the first time Corso ever did this he put the Ohio State mascot’s headgear on.

So combining that with the high profile matchup taking place in Columbus week one, this should be the choice for Corso’s final show. ESPN likely won’t announce their location for a few months still, but there really is no better place for Corso to take his final bow and receive his final sendoff from the college football world.
