Typically, when Georgia legend David Pollack speaks, Bulldogs fans tend to listen, and they are going to be excited to hear what he has to say about one of Georgia's freshman defensive linemen. Pollack certainly knows what he is talking about when he starts talking about the defense, so what he has to say about former 5-star recruit and freshman Elijah Griffin should get Georgia fans hyped up big time.
When speaking on his podcast, See Ball Get Ball, Pollack was hyped for what he could potentially see that Griffin could do this season, and gave big praise for what he has already seen.
"Enormous, 6-foot-5, you know, 300-pound plus kid, that's an 18-year-old freshman, that continues to hit over 20 miles an hour every week on GPS," Pollack said.
For a 300-pound defensive lineman, that is pretty fast adn it would also be the fastest speed of a player that weight in both college and the NFL. Some wide receivers and running backs don't even hit that speed, so to be weighing in at 310 pounds is absolutely insane.
Can Elijah Griffin put it all together during the season
Now, all of this looks great on paper, of course, hitting that speed in sprints or in practice is a bit easier than in a game when you have a full offensive line trying to keep you away from their quarterback, that speed could be a lot slower. However, if he can find a groove in the season, he can certainly get a lot of playing time, and Pollack thinks so too.
"I think he's a guy that can come in and play a bunch of snaps and be really good," Pollack said.
Obviously, it is going to take some time to figure it all out during the season, as Griffin is a true freshman and is very young, but at Georgia, he certainly has a great chance to make an impact on the Georgia defense.
