Nearly a week ago, former Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck shocked the college football world after he announced that he is transferring to Miami (FL) for his last season of college football. This news came a few weeks after Beck had already declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Everyone was left wondering what made Beck change his mind and turn his back on Georgia like this. Did something happen in the program that made him not want to play at Georgia anymore? Did Kirby Smart tell Beck they wanted to move on from him? Did Miami offer an amount of money that is impossible to say no to?

We likely will never know the exact reason why he decided to transfer, but former Georgia football legend David Pollack shared why he thinks Beck did.

“There’s a lot of things that did not help Carson Beck this year,” Pollack shared via ugawire.usatoday.com. “It didn’t help the way his team responded to Gunner Stockton and the energy they played with in the SEC championship.”

Was the team ready to move on from Carson Beck

It's important to note that Pollack is just speculating here and not confirming this to be true, but it's hard to deny that what he is saying isn't a possibility.

Pollack is making mention of the fact that the rest of the team seemed to rally behind backup QB Gunner Stockton more than they ever did with Beck after he suffered his season ending injury in the SEC Championship game. And in all honestly, it's hard to disagree with that. The team played the most inspired football that they did all season in the second half of the SEC title game, and Stockton already seemed like a better leader than Beck ever was.

And the team clearly responded to this improved leadership from Stockton because they came from behind to knock off the Longhorns in overtime.

As mentioned, it is impossible to know for sure why Beck chose to leave Georgia for Miami, but this reason from Pollack does make a lot of sense and might partially explain why Beck made the decision that he did.
