Georgia football is already off and running in the 2027 recruiting class. The Bulldogs have six commits and the No. 6 class in the country, and there is a chance they could add to that later this week.
Four-star linebacker Quinton Cypher recently named Georgia as one of his four finalists. In fact, some recruiting experts believes Georgia is actually in his top two. Cypher also shared on Tuesday that he will announce his commitment on Dec. 19 which sounds like it could be a good thing for Georgia since they are in his top two.
Unfortunately this is actually very bad news because UGA is projected to lose this recruitment.

Ohio State is in position to take Georgia down for coveted 4-star LB
According to 247Sports, Cypher is the No. 150 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 9 linebacker in the 2027 class as well as the No. 6 player from the state of North Carolina.
Alabama, Ohio State, and Miami are the three other schools to make his top four along with Georgia, but it is the Buckeyes who many believe are inside his top two with Georgia. However, it's Ohio State who looks like Cypher's No. 1 school because both 247Sports and Rivals have logged official predictions for the Buckeyes to win this recruitment.
Typically this wouldn't be a big deal because the 2027 recruiting cycle still has a year to go. Under normal circumstances this would be enough time for Georgia to catch the Buckeyes and win this recruitment, but with Cypher announcing his commitment on Friday it is unlikely they will be able to catch up.
This loss however wouldn't be the end of the world especially this early in the recruiting cycle, but it is never fun to lose recruits to other big programs who Georgia regularly competes against for National Championships. Unfortunately though it looks like OSU is going to win this battle, so Georgia is going to have to look elsewhere for a linebacker commit.
