Georgia football's rivalry with Florida is about as heated as any in the country. Both programs have had moments where they have dominated the other, but right now it is Georgia who reigns supreme.
The Bulldogs have won seven of the last eight meetings with the Gators which includes winning each of the last four matchups. But it's the matchup from last season that Florida fans are continuing to talk about because they felt they were so close to beating Georgia.
However, there is a difference between recognizing how close the game was at times and being delusional about the final result. And some Florida fans have used last year's 14 point loss to Georgia as a reason to be hopeful about their chances this season.

Florida fans think a 14 point loss to Georgia is reason they'll win this year
Georgia beat Florida last season 34-20. And as the above Florida fan pointed out, the game was tied with about seven minuets to go in the game, so the Gators definitely had a chance to win. Florida even had a chance to win even though they were on their third QB of the game after suffering multiple injuries earlier in the game.
While the fight Florida put up in this game was admirable, all that matters is what the final score says. And in this edition of the rivalry it was a 14 point victory for Georgia.
Sure Florida fans can enjoy their moral victory of keeping it close with their backup QB in, but Georgia fans can celebrate the thing that actually matters, winning. And to those Florida fans that are really celebrating this “victory,” just know that Georgia was still able to win against Texas in the SEC Championship game when they had to go to their backup.
So there really is no reason Florida fans should have any confidence as long as Kirby Smart is still at Georgia.
