Georgia football has a massive weekend approaching as they take on No. 10 Texas in the SEC’s game of the week. The Bulldogs are using this big game to their advantage as they have many elite recruits coming to Athens on recruiting visits this weekend.

One of those players who was planning on coming for a visit was three-star offensive tackle Jack Fuchs. That visit however will no longer be taking place as he officially announced his commitment to Northwestern earlier this week.

3-star OT turns their back on Georgia in the worst way

Georgia is still aggressively looking for another offensive tackle to join their 2026 recruiting class, and the hope was that Fuchs could be that player. He may not be the highest ranked recruit in the country, but 247Sports has him as the No. 39 tackle in the country. So he is someone that Georgia could definitely have worked with and developed into a great player throughout his college career had he come to UGA.

Fuchs was originally committed to Penn State, but after James Franklin was fired he re-opened his recruitment. Georgia was one of the first schools he locked in on as he scheduled a visit that was supposed to take place this weekend. But Northwestern unfortunately swooped in and was able to earn his commitment before he could make it to Athens.

Georgia will now have to head back to the drawing board once again to look for a new tackle to target. Their options are becoming very limited as most recruits are locked in with their current schools with early signing day beginning in a few weeks. But Georgia has made it very clear they want another offensive tackle in this class, so it likely is just a matter of time until fans learn who their next target is.
