Georgia football just had one of the best weekends in quite some time. Not only did they win on the field against Tennessee, but it appears that made a lot of great progress on the recruiting trail as well.

Kirby Smart and Georgia already earned a commitment in the 2026 class on Sunday from an elite tight end, but it appears that this isn't the only player that Georgia made a huge impression on this weekend.

4-star RB Jae Lamar

Jae Lamar is a four-star running back from Moultrie, GA. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Lamar is the No. 160 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 14 running back in the 2026 class as well as the No. 20 player from the state of Georgia.

Lamar was back in Athens on Saturday for another visit, and it appears things went as well as they could have gone for Lamar. So much so that he shared with DawgsHQ that Georgia is "number one" on his list of schools right now.

This clearly is big news for Georgia considering how great of a player Lamar is. But still, Georgia fans probably shouldn't get too excited just yet. Lamar still has over a year to go in his recruitment, and he also hasn't given any indication that he is looking to announce a commitment anytime soon. So even though Georgia is the current leader in his recruitment right now, things could obviously change as the recruiting cycle continues this offseason.

Georgia's 2026 recruiting class currently sits at No. 12 in the country with three commits in the class. This includes four-star WR Vance Spafford, three-star TE Lincoln Keyes, and three-star CB Jontavius Wyman. Hopefully Lamar is added to this class at some point, because he would clearly be an elite addition to the recruiting class.
