Carson Beck and Miami have unfortunately made it all the way to the National Championship game. They got their by beating Texas A&M in the first round of the playoff, Ohio State in the quarterfinals and Ole Miss in the semifinals on Thursday.

Their matchup against Ole Miss was as good as a game can get as both teams played well enough to win. But it was Miami and Beck who secured the victory and punched their ticket to the championship game.

Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler start anti-Georgia narrative

Georgia fans were obviously watching Miami’s game against Ole Miss very closely. The Rebels were the last SEC team remaining and were playing Georgia’s former quarterback in Beck, so this was a game UGA fans couldn’t help but watch. Unfortunately Georgia fans heard some unfortunate things said about their program by ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler.

Herbstreit and Fowler were the commentators calling Thursday’s game, and they spent some time discussing Beck’s decision to leave Georgia and transfer to Miami. They however chose to tear Georgia’s program fown when talking about Beck’s move.

“Been through so much adversity in his career, especially in Athens,” said Herbstreit.

“Long career at Georgia, had his moments. Finally smiling again,” uttered Fowler.

Carson Beck was not a victim at Georgia

Was Beck’s career at Georgia really that bad? Not in the slightest. Beck won two National Championships at Georgia and was 24-3 as a starter. He also won two SEC Championships as well which capped off a very successful career in Athens.

Herbstreit and Fowler are also failing to mention what Beck did on his way out of Georgia. After getting injured in the 2024 SEC Championship game Beck went silent. He barely spoke to the team, was not involved in their playoff preparations, and didn’t look engaged at all during their one playoff game against Notre Dame.

And the second Georgia’s season ended he didn’t speak to anyone on the team.

Talking about Beck leaving Georgia for Miami last year is obviously fair game for any commentator to bring up, but why do they need to bring up these false narratives? Beck had a great career at Georgia both individually and as a team, and he played more of a part in their relationship turning sour when it ended.

So Herbstreit and Fowler need to be more careful because so far they are putting Georgia in a negative light by making statements that aren’t entirely true.
