It can be very difficult for Georgia fans to watch the rest of the College Football Playoff after witnessing UGA get bounced last week in the quarterfinals. That however is not the case this year because of the semifinal matchup that took place Thursday night.
The Miami Hurricanes and Ole Miss Rebels battled it out in the first of two semifinal games, and it’s obvious why Georgia would care about this game. Ole Miss is the last SEC team remaining and the team that knocked Georgia out of the playoff, but then there is Miami who has former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck leading their team.
Thursday’s matchup was as intense and close as a game can get, but it was Beck and Miami who advanced to the National Championship game after a 31-27 victory.
Carson Beck makes Georgia’s biggest nightmare a reality
This is the worse case scenario for Georgia. Sure it wouldn’t have been fun to see another SEC team make it to the title game, but their former quarterback in Beck getting to the championship game is as bad as it gets.
But to make it even worse, it was Beck who scored the game-winning touchdown with his legs with just a few seconds left in the game.

Beck and Georgia were forever linked this season the moment he transferred to Miami. Everyone wanted to see who would have the better season, and at the end of the regular season it was Georgia after they won the SEC. But Beck has now led Miami to the title game which makes it abundantly clear that they had the better season.
Beck and Miami will face the winner of the second semifinal matchup featuring Oregon and Indiana that will be played Friday night. Georgia fans won’t really care who wins that game, but they will immediately become their biggest fans as no one will want to see Beck win a national title.
