Georgia football is entering the College Football Playoff with interesting odds to win a National Championship. Vegas oddsmakers believe that UGA has the third best odds to win it all, but they give Indiana and Ohio State a much better chance to do so.
Vegas however aren't the only people who feel this way because ESPN made sure to give Indiana and Ohio State far better odds to win a national title as well.
ESPN doubts Georgia entering CFP
ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) gives Georgia an 11.6 percent chance to win a national title this season. Those may seem like decent odds considering how hard it is to actually win a National Championship, but their odds are significantly worse than Indiana and Ohio State.
Indiana is given a 26 percent chance to win it all this season while Ohio State is given a 25.9 percent chance. This means that ESPN believes that one of these teams will win the title about half of the time.
Georgia's odds to win are the third best according to ESPN, and Texas Tech and Oregon are right behind them at 11 percent and 10.3 percent.
So it's clear that ESPN believes Georgia is in the second tier when it comes to winning a national title this season. That however doesn't make a lot of sense because Georgia just won the SEC in dominant fashion while Ohio State couldn't get it done in the Big Ten Championship game. Indiana on the other hand only has that one good win against Ohio State on their resume while Georgia has three wins that are just as good.
The Bulldogs will have their chance to prove ESPN wrong beginning Jan. 1 during their quarterfinal CFP matchup, and the best part of all is that UGA could play OSU and Indiana during their playoff run.
