ESPN finally gives Georgia the credit that’s been long overdue

ESPN finally had something nice to say about Georgia.

ESPN has not shown the most confidence in Georgia entering their College Football Playoff matchup with Ole Miss. Sure they believe Georgia will beat the Rebels, but they do not have a lot of confidence that they can win a National Championship. In fact, they gave Georgia worse odds than Oregon to win it all even after the Ducks let James Madison score 34 points on them.

But not everyone at ESPN is against Georgia as Peter Burns explained why he thinks Georgia is essentially a lock to beat Ole Miss next week.

ESPN shows the data is on Georgia's side against Ole Miss

Kirby Smart is one of the best coaches in the country for a lot of reasons. He is a master motivator and as good of a recruiter as anyone else. But Smart is arguably at his best when he has a lot of time to prepare for Georgia's next opponent.

Burns shared that Georgia is 29-3 when they have at least 10 days to prepare for their next opponent. While Georgia didn't find out they would be playing Ole Miss until this past weekend it was essentailly a guarantee they would be their next opponent since they played Tulane at home in the first round. So dating back to the reveal of the final CFP bracket Georgia will have 24 days to prepare for Ole Miss.

That is already more than enough time to get ready for an opponent, but it's even easier for Georgia since they already played the Rebels once this season.

So while ESPN overall may not love Georgia's chance to win it all, Burns is very confident in them. And after seeing this data it is hard to imagine Georgia losing next week especially because Ole Miss is without former head coach Lane Kiffin.
