After this weekend Georgia will have officially hit the halfway point in their season. That means it is time to really start looking ahead to the College Football Playoff and the potential matchups Georgia could face.

ESPN's Heather Dinich recently released her predictions for the 12-team playoff, and they have the Bulldogs comfortably in as the 8-seed. But the potential matchup looming in the quarterfinals is the one thing Georgia fans want to see happen the most.

Georgia predicted to play Carson Beck, Miami in the College Football Playoff

Georgia's first round matchup in this prediction is against 9-seed Indiana. The Bulldogs would be the home team against and likely favored to win by a wide margin, so it's safe to assume UGA would win that game and advance to the quarterfinals.

This is where things would get interesting because ESPN predicts Georgia will face Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes in their quarterfinal matchup.

ESPN has the Hurricanes projected as the No. 1 seed in the playoff, and it's easy to see why that is the case. Miami is 5-0 and No. 2 in the country with wins against Notre Dame, USF, Florida and Florida State. They also won't face another ranked opponent until the ACC Championship game, so there is a good chance they are 13-0 and ACC Champions entering the playoff. That is definitely a resume worthy of being the No. 1 overall seed.

Either team could win this game, but the one thing everyone would be paying attention to the most is Beck going up against his former team. There doesn't appear to be any bad blood between Beck and Georgia after Beck's comments from a few weeks ago, but UGA would want nothing more than to end Beck's season. And knowing how much of a competitor Beck is, he would want to do the same to Georgia.

The Bulldogs have a lot of work to do still if they are even going to make the playoff, but if they do most Georgia fans would do anything to ensure they get to play Beck when they get there.
